Sanghar

Sanghar is among Sindh’s largest districts located in the center of the province. It is a small metropolis and the district capital too. The city spread over a total area of 9874 sq kilometers and shares its borders with India to the east. Agriculture tends to be the primary industry in Sanghar. It has a population of 1.9 million.

Sanghar is about 56 kilometers away from Nawabshah towards the east-south-east side. It shares the same distance to the north side of Mirpurkhas. Other cities in the Sanghar district include Jhol, Shahpur Chakar, Shahdadpur, Tando Adam, Sanghar, and Jam Nawaz Ali.

Sangar is also known for being a territory of several famous people, including a spiritual poet Manthar Faqir Khipro, Sindhi Scholar Nabi Bux Baloch, classical singer Manzoor Ali Khan, and legendary story of Suhni Mehar.

The city gained popularity in the field of wrestling. Some famous wrestlers belonging include Khair Mohammad Khaskheli, Mojan Khan Laghari, Sheedi Mashook Bugti, Janib Shah Dado, and Move Khan Moj.

History of Sanghar

The city of Sanghar serves as the hub of Hur -Militant Freedom Fighters. Many people know the region as the Hur Mujahid District. It is the name given after loyal followers of famous Muslim Saint Syed Shah Mardan. These soldiers, under the command of Sibghatuallah Shah Rashidi, participated in the battles against the British government. They commenced their freedom movement during the Second World War.

The Climate in Sanghar

Sanghar remains hot during the months of summer. Often, the temperature reaches up to 39 °C, and sometimes, up to 44 °C.  Winters in Sanghar bring chilled breezes, freezing inhabitants, and people in their surroundings. The temperature in December to February remains between 16 °C to 2 °C.

How to Reach Sanghar

Sangar connects other cities of Pakistan via road. You can drive your private vehicle, hire a taxi, or use a bus to reach the country. Once you are there, use taxis, private cars, and rickshaws to roam around the city. However, if you want to go to tourist attractions in the near vicinity of Sangar, taxis or renting a car with a driver will be the right option to use.

Places to See in Sanghar

Sanghar is full of historical attractions for tourists, including the chronicled cemetery of the Taluka dynasty and Talpur Mirs. These graveyards have eight stone pavilion shrines, three brick-built mosques, and two tombs with curvilinear roofs. It also has many other carved-stones mausoleums with inscriptions.

The history of most graves has a history dating back to the early 19th century. Mansura is another historical aspect to explore in the neighborhood of Sanghar. The site ruins from the 17th century. The Government of Pakistan excavated the site and found a range of ancient women jewelry there. The Grand Mosque, made with massive bricks, tends to be the most vital landmark in the fortified citadel of Mansura ruins.

Besides the abovesaid attractions, Sanghar has a cricket stadium to visit. Then, there is the Sartaj Cinema house and Children Park, where you can go with your family and young kids. Adults can visit Sanghar Gym Khana to enjoy different activities.
